About Ekalavya Shikshan Sanstha
Ekalavya Shikshan Sanstha was established in 1945 by the great freedom fighter Late Shri. Madhavrao Nirali, who believed education was the most powerful tool for social upliftment. At a time when India was fighting for freedom, he dedicated himself to awakening rural communities and encouraging backward classes in Pathardi block to embrace education for their children.
The Sanstha began with the establishment of Hind Vasatigruha, a hostel for poor boys in the drought prone region of Ahmednagar. Over the decades, it expanded to include eight middle schools and a D.Ed. College across remote centers of Pathardi. In 1989–90, the Sanstha extended its reach to Pune — the mother city of education — with the launch of its Polytechnic.
After the passing of Late Shri. Nirali Appa, leadership was carried forward by Late Shri. Babanrao Dhakane, who, with over 40 years of experience in social, political, educational, and industrial sectors, transformed the Sanstha into a model institution.
